What is your decision based on?

I think that they will be pretty good this season. I think they will be able to get into the playoffs but they will have problems making it to the Superbowl.
There are too many good teams in the NFC (New York, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, maybe Philadelphia) to think they could make it past the Wild Card round.
I would be a little concerned about their running back situation. Deshaun Foster is talented but brittle and even though Nick Goings has filled in capably I don’t think you want to rely on him. But as long as Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith are healthy and clicking and the defense remains solid they should be a threat in the NFC.
The Panthers Season will be summed up in two words…World Champions.
Reasons?…First and foremost, as a true fan you HAVE to believe it every season. However on the technical side…John Fox is the best thing to happen in the Carolinas football wise since Frank Howard. Mr. Jerry Richardson not only knows the business world, but the player in him knows what kind of coach would inspire him to work towards that ultimate goal.
The risky addition of Keyshawn Johnson is a bold move, but given past histories of how we deal with problem players, they get sent elsewhere, i hope KJ finds pride in simply being a Panther. Together he and Mr. Smith will cause more than a few DB’s to consider retirement.
That Charlotte version of Wild Thing we have for a QB is maturing and his decision making is improving greatly. Jake has a chance at being one of those with thier image gaurding the grounds of our home turf. I hope he too sees the what looms on his horizon and foregoes the shallow pursit of the Holy Dollar. Bobby Bouchet You is a Panther!
The D is rock solid and only getting to know one another like a book. The Corps retuns with a few relacements but believe me they will soon drill those newbies into true Bad Cats. Sgt. Peppers, Col.Morgan, and General Minter are a cadre to be feared and respected.
There is a factor on this team not many think about..The number of connections it has to the Carolinas. The pride involved with being from either of the states runs deeper than a loblolly Pine Tree’s tap root. Growing up here gives it a spiritual edge, going to school here from the outside instills it to a wee bit smaller degree, but it is there. The best example is our departing friend Stephen Davis, less money to come home…THAT IS CAROLINA PRIDE! SD there has got to be a place on staff for you, and the measurments for you statue will come.
I am a day one fan. I survived Collins, Carruth, and that twenty letter running back from Michigan…So I say with whole heart…Go Pathers!
david H, your last paragraph is a great example of a ture fan but you have concrete facts to why they will win. I think they will get to the superbowl. my reasons as follows:
Championships are won in the trenches. The panthers have a strong offensive line and one of the top 3 deffensive lines in the NFC.
They have a great passing game with a speed WR a possion WR and a solid TE who and run catch and block well. I also think that a talent like Colbert form USC will have a much better season.
I spent many of saterdays watching d’anglelo williams play football and that kids a beast. a great mixture of speed and strength and he will see holes becasue of the threat Steve Smith is.
There one weakness is their linebacker core. Though I think Dan Morgan is the most underrated MLB in the game im not sold on the other guys. Teams will be able to run on this team.
All in All the team is great I cant a reason why they wont win the NFC championship this year.
i think the panthers will do very well this year with the addition of wide reciever keyshawn johnson…it will free up steve smith to anihalate defences….but avoiding injuries, and winning close games is the key to a good season for any team….look to see them in the playoffs at least.
pretty well, since all their RBs were injured last year. only weapon they had on offense was Jake and Steve, OL was ok. this year they will have plenty of weapons. RBs must stay healthy, now they have 2 # 1 WRs.
They have to be carefull on D, they must fulfill Ricky Mannings spot!
The Panthers have always had a lack of the 2nd WR position. This off-season they picked up Keyshawn Johnson to fill that position. Well that covered the offense!! Dan Morgan and Julius Peppers Will also dominate in every game this season. If the Panthers have a winning season in ‘06
then it will be the 1st time EVER they have had back to back winning seasons. Im from Carolina but I pick the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl over the Panthers…sorry!!

i dont care, i hate them because they knocked my beloved bears out last year
The Panthers may make the playoffs.

they will win nfc south because of the addition of K.Johnson at WR and they have one of the best QB,RB,WR combos in the nfl right now
I think that the Carolina Panthers will perform will in 2006 and make a playoff spot but I am not sure if they will win the division or the Wild Card.
thay will do better than last year hope thay go all the way
